The cardboard boxes, in which purchases are shipped, tend to be weak and flimsy. Most end up damaged by the time they reach our office, and sometimes the items within are affected. As well, the strip of tape across the top of the boxes often does not hold to both flaps. Boxes have arrived with gaping holes between the tape and the cardboard. So far, nothing has been missing, but it would be easy to fit a hand through to remove something.

After having an issue with a late delivery of items to our mailer's address, which was closed at 4 pm, and also after being told that re-delivery next day was not an option, I think that it might be a great idea to highlight that the instructions section can be used for stating what time building closes or for stating specific delivery times (before 4pm). Also, warn customers that there is no re-delivery of packages next day and that deliveries can occur after office hours. I had no idea that UPS or some other well known delivery service was not going to be the delivery service of my items but rather a smaller entity with no options for re-delivery.

I have had food items like coffee creamer arrive packed in the same box with janitorial supplies such as toilet bowl cleaner. Even though the cleaner was sealed in a plastic back, the cleaner odor permeated the entire box. I would prefer that cleaners not be packed with food items.

It would be awesome if whoever does the packaging for shipments to go out actually put some care into it. Over the last several weeks we have had damaged items. It seems as if whoever packages the items just "throws" them into the box. I had a box of markers crushed because a dozen legal pads were laying on top of them. And I also received a calendar in a box by itself that was 10 times the necessary size. Lay items in the box neatly and maybe even use bubble wrap or fillers if need be. But don't make us think you just threw everything in there as fast as you possibly could.

Nearly every package I have recieved from Quill has been shipped in a box that is way oversized. It is usally packed well so there is no damage, but it seems like a waste of resources.

Take care in making sure the packaging fits the item(s) being shipped.  All too often we receive one very small item in a box 10 times the size needed.  For example, I recently received one small box of paper clips and it was shipped in a box that you could put 1000 boxes of paper clips in.  Wasteful!  Take care in packaging items in the right size box.

It is ridiculous the amount of boxes you recieve on a order.  I realize they may come from different locations but really one giant box for a ream of paper of box of staples.  Alot of times there is one item in each box.
Could cut the cost all around .

Not sure if this has been a question before but can we possibly have a Quill Prime Shipping or 1-2 hour shipping?

I am a purchasing agent for a large company and routinely order for my London and Vancouver offices.  We would like to be able to ship to these companies directly from Quill.

We should be able to set up a steady default shipping address.

Instead, Quill uses the most recent shipping address as the default. This is a problem because we have two offices and ship to the second one only on occasion. Thus, I get tripped up on the next order I place (even though it's our most common shipping address). This has caused shipping problems on multiple occasions.

There's a reason why Quill's competitors allow you to set up a static default shipping address.

Even if ordering items (such as Lysol wipes) that come packaged in multiples of 6, please put them in a box.  I have had numerous orders to come with plastic packaging around them instead of in a cardboard box.  Also if you are shipping liquid items, please ALWAYS put them in a plastic bag (or container of some kind).  We all know that items in a box can be turned upside down in transport, causing the liquids to spill or leak on the other products in the box.  I have had this happen multiple times.

Would love to see free shipping be offered at a lower minimum or perhaps with a membership (like with Amazon).  Another alternative that would be great would be to always have free shipping with no minimum on a certain day of the week, e.g. Friday.  There are many times where we need just one or two office supplies, such as a package of K-Cups, but do not need to order anything else and do not want to spend the extra money on shipping, so we will opt to go to a local store instead to purchase the single item or just wait until we have accumulated enough product in our shopping cart to qualify for free shipping.

I really wish we could choose which company ships to us!  I realize you probably choose the most inexpensive company to ship the merchandise to us, but 1st choice couier is not the best company.  UPS is always nice and friendly.  1st choice couier has left items outside our business doors after hours and on weekends.  90% of the time the gentleman comes as we are leaving and expects us to go back and unlock the doors, because otherwise we have to wait until the following day to hope and receive our items.  They have signed our signature saying we have received the item when we weren't even here to receive the item.  We have complained multiple times, but yet the same man continues to deliver our items.  UPS is always courteous and super nice.  It would just be nice if we could choose who delivers to us!!!

Returns are very easy to do. I like that they are processed quickly and if you are doing an exchange you still get your new item fast. Keep up the good work Quill.

Our business has order from Quill a few times now and the products and shipping time are always wonderful.  The only problem we have run into with our orders is that our first order was delivered to another officer somewhere and it took quite a few days to track it down and get it delivered to us, and the other business had already opened our package as well and then re-sealed it.  Then on the second order that we placed, the tracking information stated that a delivery attempt was made at 2:30pm and that the office was closed, however we had been in the office from 2-630pm.  Upon contacting the delivery service, we found that they had again made an attempt to deliver at an incorrect office and that office was in fact closed at that time.  This delayed our delivery by another day.  I would suggest that the delivery service you use TRIPLE CHECKS that they are delivery the packages to the correct business address and the correct business name that is listed on the package.

I've received shipments before that came in a huge box, and all that was in there was one small package of construction paper...which would have fit in a large envelope, instead of a huge box, packed with tons of packing paper.  it was a big waste of packaging, and this has happend on more than one occassion.

Would like to have an option for delivery companies.  One certain company has either lost or damaged our products several times.

I appreciate the water bottle mailed out after our order was placed.  However, how is it possible to get the water bottle to my house in 24 hours when the art that I ordered will take 19-20 business days?  How can the speed of delivery be expedited for the merchandise purchased?

When placing an order online, there isn't an option to choose a shipping company. I prefer to place my orders online but everytime I need to place an order for cleaning supplies, I have to call Quill and give the order for swiffers, windex etc (all items that contain liquid) and specifically state to have these products via Fedex.  UPS damages all of our orders to the point where I almost stopped ordering from Quill because paper items would be soaked with cleaning product liquids.   Please give us a chance with online ordering to choose a shipping company.  It may save Quill on the replacement of products.

How are ideas selected for execution?

Online votes and comments are used to help get ideas developed. Ideas that receive the most votes have a higher chance of being considered. Also, an idea may be selected because it appears to have a potential for success.

How do voting and comments work?

As a registered user, you can vote on every idea once.  A voting icon is shown next to the idea. Just click to vote on your favorites. It’s that simple.  Each vote is worth 10 points.  A vote up will add ten points and a vote down will take away 10 points.  The idea’s score can be found beneath the voting icons. The higher the points the more popular the idea is.

Read and make comments on a specific idea by clicking on an idea title.  Comment on ideas as many times as you like. There is no limit.  Comments do not earn an idea points.

Our site moderators will leave comments as well.  These users are identified with a User-added image icon.
