It would be awesome if whoever does the packaging for shipments to go out actually put some care into it. Over the last several weeks we have had damaged items. It seems as if whoever packages the items just "throws" them into the box. I had a box of markers crushed because a dozen legal pads were laying on top of them. And I also received a calendar in a box by itself that was 10 times the necessary size. Lay items in the box neatly and maybe even use bubble wrap or fillers if need be. But don't make us think you just threw everything in there as fast as you possibly could.

It's frustrating to have to pay for shipping to return an item.  If it's my fault for ordering the wrong item, I can see... but when it's your warehouse, or a wrong description on your website, you should be paying for the shipping both ways.  (This happened on a large file cabinet purchase, because we don't have a dock at our office.)

I have gotten several items (such as a box of highlighters) in a box big enough for a microwave!  Just seems wasteful.

I order about twice a month and usually one order ends up in two to three separate boxes. That's like 4 to six boxes a month! One time, one tiny eraser (shipped from different location) came in a box, which I found to be ridiculous. Is it possible to avoid unneccesary packaging as much as possible?

I have multiple locations to purchase for.  It would be nice if I could create one order (to get the discounted price on bulk items), but ship parts of it to different locations.

I have had food items like coffee creamer arrive packed in the same box with janitorial supplies such as toilet bowl cleaner. Even though the cleaner was sealed in a plastic back, the cleaner odor permeated the entire box. I would prefer that cleaners not be packed with food items.

I receive waaaaaaaaaaay to many emails from Quill that have the exact same content.  My inbox is already cluttered so receiving the exact same email day after day becomes extremely annoying.  Lighten up on the emails.  If you have sent it once, that's enough, we've gotten it & if we want to purchase we will.

The other problem is with the way your warehouse packages product.  I have received numerous shipments containing paper where there was absolutely no protection around the any of the paper reams & the edges were all bent.  Other items have also been received in less then perfect condition.

My suggestion, retrain your warehouse employees so when they are packing a shipment they do not just DUMP the contents into the carton, slap a mailing label on it & ship it out.  Take some pride & care in what you are doing & think about the contents & the Customer that will be receiving that package.

I too have expressed my thoughts on the "waste" of packaing.  One time I received a box of pens (that's it) in a box that could have fit a whole ream of paper.  Really?  Yeah, you fill with "air pillows" so it didn't move around, but come on,  A smaller envelope would have been better and probably cost less for shipping to save Quill money as well as your customers.  PLEASE work on this!  I have expressed this to my several Quill Account Managers over the past years, but like the president of Quill says, it seems like what we say doesn't get heard!   I am hoping through this new Quills Idea account, we can get heard.  Thank you Quill, for listening!

I am having trouble with your delivery dates. I recently found out that if an item has to come from the manufacturer and not one of your warehouses then Quill doesn't know when it will actually ship. Why not specify this in the description ("Shipping directly from the Manufacturer) so your customers know that the date range you give us is nothing more than a guess and probably wrong!

We ordered one four pack of highlighters and they were shipped in a medium size box. This seems like such a waste of resources.

It would be great if your pens were in a diiferent type box so that when I get them they are not all floating all over the shipping box and I have to sort them and put them back in their correct box.    Like maybe a box with a tab that tucks in to keep them from opening.

The last several times we have ordered our printer paper, the boxes look like they've been through a war. The box looks beat up and torn all over, and a lot of the reams are busted open. We have had to not use some of the paper because they end up getting ripped in the process. Is there any way to make sure that what we are ordering does not come to the office looking like it just went through a 12 round fight with one of the UFC fighters?

I have multiple locations to ship to.  Currently, I have to split orders to ship to different locations.  Since you don't have split shippments, I'd like to get credit on my account for buying in bulk even though it's on different orders on the same account.

So, I have 10 of the same toner to buy, the price drops at 3+.  However, they need to ship to 5 different locations.... so I end up paying the full price for all of them, even though I bought 10 in the same day.  I don't think that's very fair.

I've noticed a lot of times when I order products (lets say, for example, pens, paper clips, and notepads).  Quil has shipped these items in a large box instead of one that is more size appropriate.  I've called a few times to Customer Service on that and noone can give me a real reason why.

We have on numerous occassions ordered both sugar and non-dairy coffee creamer canisters and everytime during the shipping of the product at least one canister is damaged.  As a result of the damaged product the contents empty within the box, including all other items that are in the box.

We suggest that the canister items be shipped in a box by themselves and placed in a plastic bag.

I hope you will accept our suggestion.

Almost every time I have items shipped in bags, the contents of boxes are spilled out, and the box is often not usable.  I store my inventory in boxes, so it's nice to have a good box to work with and pens not all mixed up when the bag is opened.   Is there a way the boxes could be reinforced ???  or maybe just quit using those shipping bags

I am sure there are plenty of others out there that shop like me.  I am in a fairly small office however I am required to think ahead for our office supply needs.  I purchased 2 toners for a printer that was moderately used.  We keep a back up toner on hand.  The printer stopped working and we are now stuck with an unopened toner that we will never use.  The return policy was 90 days however I was just told the policy changed on 6/4/14 to a 60 day return policy.  Even at 90 days we would be out of time to now return this item.  I am astonished there is no room for exceptions for an item that does not go bad to be returned for credit.  I understand no money back but I asked for credit for a future purchase.  I am now forced to rethink who I buy office supplies from.

Please use smaller boxes for small items. I ordered a couple packs of Quill brand sticky flags and they could have easily been put in a bubble envelope instead of a huge box.

How are ideas selected for execution?

Online votes and comments are used to help get ideas developed. Ideas that receive the most votes have a higher chance of being considered. Also, an idea may be selected because it appears to have a potential for success.

How do voting and comments work?

As a registered user, you can vote on every idea once.  A voting icon is shown next to the idea. Just click to vote on your favorites. It’s that simple.  Each vote is worth 10 points.  A vote up will add ten points and a vote down will take away 10 points.  The idea’s score can be found beneath the voting icons. The higher the points the more popular the idea is.

Read and make comments on a specific idea by clicking on an idea title.  Comment on ideas as many times as you like. There is no limit.  Comments do not earn an idea points.

Our site moderators will leave comments as well.  These users are identified with a User-added image icon.

Does every idea get a response?

Due to the amount of posts, we won’t be able to respond to every posting. If your idea is moved to the formal review step, you can expect to receive e-mail updates from us.  We will keep you informed if your idea is recommended for implementation and notify you of any status changes.

Do I get recognized if my idea is selected?

If your idea is implemented, we may give you credit on the site, but there is no monetary compensation. Take a look at our Terms and Conditions to learn more.
