It would be very nice to have a selection of products to choose from that are made in America. Not only would it be a promotional tool , but also encouragement for American companies to place products with you.  I would certainly  shop in that category as much a possible.  I am tired of made in China stuff, as we all are. Sometimes in Dollar Tree I am struck by why China must think we are the most foolish people on earth.......they have to create all that trash for us then buy up all our bonds to keep us in debt.  Quill and Staples are huge companies and could lead the way.  Please

I was taking advantage of the free gifts and we were stockpiling them up, and then using them for Employee Drawings.  Over time, someone complained because they do not understand how "Perks" work and I was told to stop, with no further explanation.  Although I know how to explain how perks work and that this is NOT an illegal practice, it would be nice if Quill could supply a document for others who may not understand so that the Purchasing Department would have back up for our explanation.  We are a not for profit and tax exempt but I am being told that the auditors will have a problem with us recieving "free" gifts because we have to pay the taxes on them.  In reality, I know that we aren't even paying taxes on our orders, let alone, the free gifts.  I'm not sure if anyone else out there has run into this unfortunate circumstance.  Oh, now I AM allowed to take advantage of the Quill Cash and Percentage Off Coupons (which are also great perks)...and the powers that be here fail to understand that those are basically one in the same - it's just that one is a physical "gift" and the other is a monetary (dollars off) "gift".

A lot of larger corporations cannot ethically accept gifts.  More coupons that offer gift or quill cash would be great.  Or gift cards - because we can donate those a lot easier than a muffin pan or additional office supplies.

Along with some of the national charities out there, it may get the conversation about Quill going at a local level if you adopted similar practices to Amazon, Kroger and many other companies. Whether you donate a small portion of our purchases or give us the option to round up to the next dollar for charity (or both), just getting the conversation going between businesses would benefit Quill in getting the word out that you exist.

In my circle, most of my fellow business owners either already contribute to local charities each year or they're looking for one that strikes their interest. It's not difficult to ensure that a nonprofit has the proper documentation and build your list of available charities.

I received a templated letter from your company/President asking that we reconsider using Quill.

I represent a 140 person medical practice and are looking to replace our current one-stop shop provider of office supples, toners, and print matieral. Your company seemed like a strong candidate to give consideration, but the problem that deterred me was the lack of a regional representative. We are constantly making last minute orders, print changes, bulk orders of promo items and in our experience with current vendors, cannot afford to lose weeks or days on waiting on e-mail tag or phone tag to hash out back and forth between representatives.

Another supplier that I have utilized in the past gives a portion back to the school of your choice.  Though I have not received feedback from the schools I have selected to give back to, I think this extra feature is a real nice bonus - an added incentive to do business with them.

    Good Friday Afternoon
I would like to have items I buy most frequently discounted.  Your competitors allow 15 to 20 frequent items you purchase at a discount price.  You supply them with the list they tell you their price then the discounted price.  That would be nice :)

    Good Afternoon

It would be sooooooo nice to have a customer rep to call or to vist the office to make it more personal to work with Quill.  There are many times I needed help but couldn't get any assistance.  Your competitors have personal customer reps.  I think this would be very beneficial from your perspective and the customers as well.

    Many Thanks Renée

Have a way for a school to list supplies that they need donated, and have parents and others to "donate". Every school is always in short supply of school materials, this would be a way that parents can contribute to a pool, and the school can use either credits to have stuff delivered to them.

It appears that Quill no longer cares about what their customers are saying.  They haven't responded to an idea or implemented one since 2014.  It appears that since they were bought by Staples, the customers have taken a back seat.  I am moving on to the competition after 30 years of being a Quill customer.

I think it would be a good idea if you included a place for us, the shopper, to include a place for us to share our Corporate Purchasing Department information so you could reach out to them for possible greater savings for everyone.

Offer companies a discount program that their employee's can use.  They could earn rewards/discounts for every employee purchase and the employee would get good pricing for their personal needs.  Each employee would be linked back to their company (during login setup) and still would control and pay for their own products.  The employeer would be able to keep track in dollars how much discount is generated from their employees, thus giving them reason too offer their employees the program.  The employeer could even negotiate special pricing with Quill on behalf of their employees for certain items (like janitorial, snack, computers, etc) which would give them a way to promote to the employees.  Or Quill could provide a promotional sheet for the employeer to distribute to the employees that would tell about the program, discribe the process, and give sample pricing.

I know for one I would take part if I was able to purchase items I needed everyday (coffee, splenda, cleaning supplies) and could get good pricing.  Currently for example I need fire extinguishers for my house, a toilet brush, and art supplies and if I was able to get all that delivered to me free, from one vender, at a reasonable/discounted price - I would definately take advantage.

Today's economy is our NEW normal since 2008 or so. Please consider discounts and/or gifts for smaller purchases...i.e. $100, $125.
Smaller Business owners have had to re-group and make the $$$ work for them.
Office Managers, supply clerks, etc. have a challenge to keep their offices fully stocked with essentials at a cost-effective bottom line.
EMBRACE us and offer incentives witinin our $$ limit$.

Today (1/27/16) I received an email for a free tote to the first 500 business customers who sign up or post an idea.  As you read through the ideas posted, you find ideas posted prior to 2016.  Why are we not invited us sooner (years sooner?)   Why send me an email today for a chance to receive this tote?

Quill is totally waisting time and money having marketing Reps.  These are very nice people, but the LAST person I want to see is ANOTHER person wanting my time.  Everyone who has been in business knows Quill.  There is no need for this bother and expense.  Businesses deal with marketing people on a daily basis as some of the bigger office parks.  This turns into dread of seeing them and leads me to NOT use the person that is bothering me on an ongoing basis.  And that is the truth.  It harms your company -- it does not help.

While you offer tremendous "free gifts", and I appreciate all of them. I was wondering what happens to the left over gifts, snacks, cookies, candy if no one qualifies to receive them based on their total order amount, or if customers forget to select the proper coupon?
i would think that most of the tagible products are date coded and must be discarded is not used by a certain date.
These "left overs" should be gathered and then dispursed, as a donation from Quill, to an organization that could distribute to people in need. Examples of this would be local food banks, shelters, soup kitchens, etc.
Quill would definitely gain community awreness along with, hopefully, a much needed tax deduction.
    This is just a thought.

How are ideas selected for execution?

Online votes and comments are used to help get ideas developed. Ideas that receive the most votes have a higher chance of being considered. Also, an idea may be selected because it appears to have a potential for success.

How do voting and comments work?

As a registered user, you can vote on every idea once.  A voting icon is shown next to the idea. Just click to vote on your favorites. It’s that simple.  Each vote is worth 10 points.  A vote up will add ten points and a vote down will take away 10 points.  The idea’s score can be found beneath the voting icons. The higher the points the more popular the idea is.

Read and make comments on a specific idea by clicking on an idea title.  Comment on ideas as many times as you like. There is no limit.  Comments do not earn an idea points.

Our site moderators will leave comments as well.  These users are identified with a User-added image icon.

Does every idea get a response?

Due to the amount of posts, we won’t be able to respond to every posting. If your idea is moved to the formal review step, you can expect to receive e-mail updates from us.  We will keep you informed if your idea is recommended for implementation and notify you of any status changes.

Do I get recognized if my idea is selected?

If your idea is implemented, we may give you credit on the site, but there is no monetary compensation. Take a look at our Terms and Conditions to learn more.

Is there a moderator on Quill Ideas?

Your ideas and comments are not reviewed before they are posted.  Any postings that violate the Terms of Use will be removed. When appropriate, we will respond to comments in a timely manner.
